Melinda's Gender Neutral Nursery Decor

Permalink | Comments (0)

Decorating a gender-neutral nursery can be tough. If you won't learn your baby's gender prior to delivery, or want the possibility of re-using the room without needing to paint over coats of blue or pink, it's important to select wallcoverings and room decor that won't require huge changes a few years down the line. RoomMates customer Melinda, who was presented with this challenge, used our Woodland Animals and Blue Clouds wall decals to create her very own custom nursery decor. As she wrote us in a recent email:

We were unsatisfied with the [available] gender neutral bedding sets and themes, and after finding your decals online, we created our own theme for the nursery. We absolutely love it and so does our baby girl!

Here are some of the photos we received:

This is one of my favorite rooms designed with RoomMates wall decals! Melinda tells me that the stripes you see around the bottom of the room are paint, not decals (wow!), and that the colors were chosen based on the colors of the Woodland Animals design. After her daughter was born, the purple curtain you see was added to give the room a bit of a "girly" touch. Everything comes together quite nicely, and the nursery is bright and interesting without relying on typical "girl" or "boy" colors.

Melinda has a lot of enthusiasm for the two designs chosen for the room:

[They] were very easy to put up and my husband and I had so much fun -- it is a wonderful memory that we will always share. [...] Everyone who has seen the decals LOVES them.

We love them, too! We never would have thought to apply these selections from our collection of nursery wall decals in the same room, but their combined effect with the blue paint creates a lovely scene that reminds you of the outdoors. And since the wall decals are removable and reusable, Melinda and her husband can take them down or reuse them as their daughter grows and her interests change. The room's colors can also be very easily updated with just a coat or two of paint.

We're so thankful to Melinda for sharing her photographs and decorating story with us! Have a project of your own you'd like to share? We just might publish it on our blog. Send us an email with your photos and the subject "RoomMates Decorating Story" or simply submit them, and you could see your story right here. We look forward to hearing from you!
